Il Foglio Numismatico. Periodico di letteratura sulla scienza delle monete (ISSN 3035-0603) is the editorial project directed by Luca Lombardi. Founded in 2022, it grew out of a deep commitment to a discipline which, despite its millennia-long history, continues to offer significant opportunities for historical reflection.
The periodical was established with the aim of advancing and sharing knowledge of numismatic literature, which is essential both to the study of coins and to reconstructing the complex and often tortuous paths through which numismatic knowledge has been formed. This objective is pursued by bringing to light the contributions of scholars who have left an enduring mark on the field.
The establishment of Il Foglio Numismatico responds to a recognised need within the Italian publishing landscape: the absence of a periodical devoted exclusively to numismatic literature. The journal therefore seeks to fill this gap by providing a resource for scholars, collectors and enthusiasts, with the ambition of becoming a point of reference for those engaged in this area of study.

Beginning with its third issue, alongside its regular editorial format, the journal also introduced the option of a monographic issue, adopted whenever the nature of the subject calls for a unified treatment through complementary contributions. This approach makes it possible to reconstruct events, figures and cultural milieus in a coherent manner, while bringing to light aspects that have remained at the margins of numismatic historiography.
Each published contribution is the result of rigorous and original research aimed at examining themes, works and individuals that have contributed to the formation and development of numismatic studies, while drawing attention to aspects of the discipline that remain little explored.
