Marking the centenary of Memmo Cagiati’s death, this issue traces his life and scholarly career, reconstructing his education, his relationships with scholars, collectors, and dealers, and the role he played within Italian numismatic circles. The focus then turns to his publishing output, situated within the bibliographical tradition that preceded it and examined in its various forms: from the monumental work Le monete del Reame delle Due Sicilie to the reprints, and from the periodicals he founded to his later studies of the mints of southern Italy. What emerges is a trajectory in which the study of coins, publishing activity, and the creation of intellectual networks contributed significantly to the development of Italian numismatics in the early twentieth century.
